Kroger fell $.05 or .2 percent, to $21.64.

Safeway rose $.13 or .8 percent, to $15.44.

Supervalu rose $.22 or 10.1 percent, to $2.34.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $1.77 or 1.9 percent, to $96.85.
