News Summary: Microsoft unveils new logo

NEW LOOK: Microsoft is getting its first new logo since 1987, when the Internet was barely around and cellphones were considered a luxury.

THE REDESIGN: It includes the familiar red, blue, yellow and green colors used in the flag on Microsoft's Windows operating system, but the colors will be in a square box instead of the curvy template that has been in place for years.

TIMING: It comes as Microsoft prepares for a radical change to Windows, one it believes will help it respond to the success of mobile devices such as the iPad.
