NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top supermarkets companies were down at the close of trading:

Kroger fell $.27 or 1.2 percent, to $21.69.

Safeway fell $.66 or 4.1 percent, to $15.31.

Supervalu fell $.04 or 1.9 percent, to $2.12.

Whole Foods Market Inc. fell $1.92 or 2.0 percent, to $95.08.
