Kroger fell $.13 or .6 percent, to $21.83.

Safeway fell $.80 or 5.0 percent, to $15.17.

Supervalu fell $.02 or .9 percent, to $2.14.

Whole Foods Market Inc. fell $.32 or .3 percent, to $96.68.
