Vt. senator to hold hearing on gasoline prices

August 06, 2012

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders is planning a special field hearing of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to look at gasoline prices in northwestern Vermont.

Sanders a month ago began highlighting what he said were higher gasoline prices in the Burlington area than elsewhere in the region. He called for a federal investigation, and says the price gap has shrunk considerably since then.

Monday's hearing, set for 2 p.m. at Burlington City Hall, is to feature testimony from officials with the Oil Price Information Service, the Franklin County Senior Center, the Vermont Petroleum Association and others.

Sanders is a member of the Senate committee and will chair the hearing.
