Comcast Corp. rose $.57 or 1.7 percent, to $34.12.

Walt Disney Co. rose $.16 or .3 percent, to $48.98.

Gannett fell $.16 or 1.1 percent, to $14.00.

New York Times Co. fell $.02 or .3 percent, to $7.61.

News Corp. rose $.13 or .6 percent, to $23.31.

Time Warner Inc. rose $1.07 or 2.7 percent, to $40.67.

Viacom Inc. fell $.33 or .7 percent, to $47.77.
