COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Central Ohio Transit Authority has ratified a contract agreement with its bus drivers, mechanics and maintenance workers that effectively ends a three-day strike.

COTA's Board of Trustees ratified the contract Wednesday afternoon, and fixed-route bus services will resume Thursday.

Transport Workers Union of America Local 208 voted on the contract earlier in the day, which gives workers a 7 percent pay increase over three years but requires more contribution toward pensions. They had rejected the same one Monday night but met again over the Fourth of July holiday to reconsider it.

The deal ends a strike that's affected commuters who take about 60,000 bus rides daily. It halted public transportation Tuesday for a popular fireworks event in downtown Columbus.
