Utah adds nearly 29,000 jobs in May

June 15, 2012

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — New data shows Utah added nearly 29,000 jobs in May, keeping a job growth rate that's more than 1.5 times the national growth pace.

Gov. Gary Herbert says the new numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics affirm the state's economic policy and show Utah is steadily growing out of the recession.

The May numbers give the state a 2.4 percent job growth rate.

Herbert says that's part of the reason Utah was named No. 2 for top future boom states and No. 2 in business birth rate in a U.S. Chamber of Commerce report released earlier this week.
