Aflac Inc. rose $.34 or .9 percent, to $38.79.

American International Group rose $.62 or 2.3 percent, to $28.15.

MBIA rose $.38 or 4.5 percent, to $8.88.

MGIC Investments Corp. rose $.05 or 2.2 percent, to $2.32.

MetLife rose $.50 or 1.8 percent, to $28.32.

XL Group PLC rose $.04 or .2 percent, to $19.64.
