New media guru Rob Curley leaves Las Vegas Sun

Executives from Greenspun Media Group say Rob Curley is leaving the post that put him in charge of the Las Vegas Sun website.

Sun Publisher Brian Greenspun says in a memo to employees that Curley is focusing on moving closer to his roots in the Midwest, although he doesn't specify where.

Curley came to the company in 2008 and served as editor of Greenspun Interactive. The division oversees websites including LasVegasSun.com and LasVegasWeekly.com.

Curley has gained notoriety as a pioneer in the realm of new media. His resume includes positions at Washingtonpost, Newsweek Interactive and the Lawrence Journal-World in Lawrence, Kan.

Greenspun praised Curley for helping the Las Vegas Sun score "an unmatched run of awards" and for growing its audience base.
