SD contractor group wins award for road funding ad

A South Dakota association of contractors who build roads and other infrastructure has won an award for an advertising campaign that promoted the need to boost funding for road projects.

The Highway and Heavy Utilities Chapter of Associated General Contractors of South Dakota won the award at the group's national convention last month. Association officials say the campaign helped persuade the South Dakota Legislature to increase vehicle registration fees last year to provide more money for maintaining local government roads and bridges.

The campaign featured entertainers Williams and Ree explaining there is no pothole fairy that will magically repair roads.
