NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.
Commuter rail service is expanding south in Rhode Island.
State transportation officials said Wednesday that service will begin later this month at the new Wickford Junction Train Station in North Kingstown.
Trains will run Monday through Friday from Wickford north to Warwick, Providence and Boston on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Providence-Stoughton line.
The new station features a coffee shop and a four-story parking garage. It will be linked to public bus service.
On Thursday transportation officials plan to tour the new station and announce the specific date that service will begin.
