Wendy's Co. on Wednesday named Craig S. Bahner, a former Procter & Gamble Co. executive, as chief marketing officer with the fast food restaurant chain.
Bahner, 47, will oversee marketing and become a member of the executive leadership team at Wendy's, effective April 2, reporting to President and CEO Emil Brolick.
Bahner replaces Ken Calwell, who left as chief marketing officer at Wendy's in June 2011 to become president of Papa Murphy's International. Calwell added the CEO title at the pizza chain on Dec. 31.
Bahner spent 20 years at P&G, most recently as vice president of the company's North American retail business for hair care products, including the Pantene, Head & Shoulders, and Herbal Essences shampoo brands.
He also served from 2002 to 2006 as P&G's Japan-based vice president for fabric and home care products sold in Northeast Asia.
Wendy's includes more than 6,500 franchise and company-owned restaurants in the U.S. and 27 countries and U.S. territories.
Its shares rose a penny to $5 in morning trading Wednesday. Its shares have traded in a 52-week range of $4.29 to $5.62 per share.
