Tiger Woods for World Cup
Tiger
Woods, the most in-demand golfer on the planet, heads a cast of stars for this year's
World Cup Golf to be staged at the Mines Resort and Golf Club.
Woods,
the 24-year-old turned pro in 1996, tops the shopping list of every sponsor and promoter
in the business. He would need a 100-week season to meet the global demands on his time
and that's only for the next ten years!
He
already has two of the game's four major championships on his CV, the 1997 U.S. Masters
and this year's USPGA title and experts around the world believe it is only a matter of
time before he adds the missing two, the British Open and the U.S. Open, to complete the
Grand Slam. Only four players in the glittering history of the game have achieved the
Grand Slam -- Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazan and Ben Hogan.
Woods
will be partnered in this two man team event by his friend, neighbor and mentor, Mark
O'Meara, himself a major winner with the 1998 Masters and British Opens to his credit.
But
the opposition will be tough as the battle takes place for $1.5 million. |
