Moscow Arbitration Court last year ruled Bryntsalov sold Russian Ministry of Health animal insulin instead of more expensive human gene-engineered insulin, as called for in contract.

COUNTERFEITING
French pharmaceutical giant Aventis suspects Bryntsalov of counterfeiting Claforan, the leading antibiotic sold in Russia.

SUPPLIER COMPLAINTS
Netherlands-based insulin crystal maker Diosynth terminated supplies to Bryntsalov over concerns that he used their crystals in formula before receiving regulatory approval.

UNPAID DEBTS
Novo Nordisk preparing suit against Bryntsalov in international arbitration court in Geneva for nonpayment of $6.5 million debt.
