How to Avoid Getting Spammed DO take advantage of your e-mail reader's ability to filter messages. Banish spam based on keywords and sender's addresses. DO disable your e-mail program's ability to display pictures. That way, tiny images called Web bugs won't automatically alert the spam sender's server that the message has been opened. DON'T use your primary e-mail address when you post on Internet message boards or list yourself in online member directories. Use an alias or altered address instead. DON'T reply to spam. Ignore even mail that promises to remove you from the mailing list; it only verifies that your e-mail address is valid. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |
