CDMA 2000 Qualcomm's third-generation standard, offering Internet access at 2 megabits per second. Sprint hopes to offer CDMA 2000 in mid-2003. C-HTML Compact HTML. A coding technique used by NTT DoCoMo and others to display Web pages on a cell-phone screen EDGE Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution. Operators of GSM and other TDMA systems will use EDGE as an intermediate step to 3G. i-mode NTT DoCoMo's Net service for cell phones. The connection is ''always on,'' so subscribers can read e-mail and browse the Web on their phones without dialing. WCDMA Wideband CDMA is the third-generation standard backed by Japan and Europe. Backwards-compatible with GSM, it was designed for highspeed Internet access and videoconferencing. TDMA Time Division Multiple Access. A basic digital wireless technology used in both GSM and in current-generation digital services from AT&T and other North and South American carriers. WAP Wireless Application Protocol.
