A Winning Plan After two years of research, the Chicks Laying Nest Eggs Investment Club developed a 12-step approach: 1. Buy what you know--companies with products or services you use. 2. Be able to easily explain the company's industry and product. 3. Make sure both the company and its industry are growing. 4. See that the industry is growing faster than others. 5. Go with the industry leader. 6. Look for repeat profitability. 7. Be sure gross profit margins are at least 50%. 8. Check that net margins are at least 8%. 9. Make sure the company has more cash than long-term debt. 10. See that the company is taking in cash faster than it's paying it out. 11. Know the company's history and management. 12. Buy only when the stock price is lower than its 52-week average.
