Verizon's Pricey Peace The strike settlement could limit its ability to compete. WORKFORCE FLEXIBILITY Verizon agreed to severely limit the number of jobs it will shift from one part of the company to another. Now it can only move seven of every 1,000 jobs in a specific group. NO LAYOFFS The company can only reduce its 260,000-person labor force through attrition or by giving employees incentives to leave the company. WIRELESS UNIONIZATION Union organizers can use ''card check'' to try to unionize this unit.
