CONSTITUTIONAL COURT PRESIDENT ROLAND DUMAS
Has stepped down temporarily to answer charges that he allegedly benefited from huge payments made to his mistress by oil company Elf Aquitaine when he was Foreign Minister.

FRENCH COMMUNIST PARTY CHIEF ROBERT HUE
Under investigation for allegedly accepting more than $3 million in payoffs to the party from utility company Generale des Eaux.

FORMER FRENCH FINANCE MINISTER DOMINIQUE STRAUSS-KAHN
Resigned after being linked to allegedly fraudulent payments by a social security fund controlled by Socialist supporters. Investigators are also studying allegations that Strauss-Kahn was paid for fictitious legal services while in private practice.

PARIS MAYOR JEAN TIBERI
Being probed for alleged influence-peddling and diversion of government funds to aid the RPR party. Tiberi's wife is awaiting a court verdict for allegedly receiving a no-show government job.
