British Telecom's Global Push


PARTNERSHIPS
Combined international operations with AT&T in July, 1998. The two giants bought 30% of Japan Telecom in April and are jointly developing a high-speed global Internet network for corporate users.

OVERSEAS INVESTMENT
Has spent $5 billion on the Continent and $2 billion in Asia in just the past year to acquire stakes in telecom ventures.

INTERNET
Launched the first Europewide, high-speed Internet network in March. Its U.S.-based Concert subsidiary offers Internet services to 4,700 global business customers. Expanding aggressively in digital technology.
