  1. Case of cereal arrives at distribution center
  2. Cereal taken off rack
  3. Cereal stored in proper location
  4. When a customer places an order, cereal is put in customer's so-called tote bag
  5. Tote bag, with any other items ordered, is transferred to loading dock
  6. Tote is loaded onto a truck and taken to a transfer station where vans are waiting
  7. Tote is loaded onto a van for delivery
  8. Customer receives cereal and other items at home
Traditional
  1. Case of cereal arrives at warehouse
  2. Cereal taken off rack
  3. Case is stored in warehouse
  4. When a store needs cereal, a case is loaded on a truck for delivery
  5. Cereal is received at store
  6. Stock clerks store cereal in back of the store
  7. When needed, cereal is placed in appropriate aisle
  8. Old or outdated stock is either removed or rotated
  9. Customer puts cereal in shopping cart
  10. Cashier rings up cereal
  11. Clerk puts cereal in bag
  12. Customer brings purchase home
