Parcel Shootout Challengers DEUTSCHE POST The German monopoly snapped up 25% of DHL and parts of 18 European parcel companies last year. But competitors say it is overpaying for acquisitions and slashing parcel prices below cost to gain market share. TNT POST GROUP The privatized Dutch Post office is strong in Europe and Asia and just released a new, ambitious Web program. But the Dutch lack Deutsche Post's big domestic market and only have a weak American presence. UPS AND FEDEX The U.S. market leaders dominate transatlantic parcel deliveries and hope to grab a lead in European E-commerce. But both are struggling to deliver packages within Europe profitably. OTHER POST OFFICES Smaller posts hope to link up with big players in the U.S. or Europe. Britain's Post Office and France's La Poste are trying to build global networks by themselves but may not have the money to succeed.
