Why a 10% Tax Cut Is No Sure Bet (int'l edition)

I disagree with the whole premise that ''a 10% tax cut overwhelmingly favors high-income taxpayers.'' Your writer has fallen into the liberal trap of thinking that ''fairness'' means that the majority of tax-cut amounts should be distributed ''fairly'' among income groups. The problem with this definition is that fairness is in the eye of the beholder. What is more fair than an across-the-board tax cut that treats all Americans equally? With this 10% tax cut, naturally the higher-income taxpayers will receive a higher absolute dollar cut, simply because they pay a larger share of the taxes.

However, this tax-cut proposal treats everyone equally by cutting everyone's taxes by the same percentage. Treating all Americans equally is my idea of fairness.
