WHEN 'VOCATIONAL SCHOOL' IS A MISNOMERI write to correct the characterization of New York Institute of Technology as a ''vocational'' school in ''Steve Jobs, movie mogul'' (Cover Story, Nov. 23). NYIT is a comprehensive, regional, multi-accredited college. More than 100 academic disciplines and programs are offered by NYIT's eight schools, leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees. In addition to campuses located on Long Island and in New York City and satellite campuses in Florida, the college has a strong and growing international presence, with programs in Taiwan and China. As you noted, NYIT's rich research history gave rise to many technology-based activities, such as computer graphics.
