DIGITAL DARKROOM

There are lots of image-editing programs on the market, but for pros and serious amateurs, Adobe Systems Photoshop is the overwhelming favorite. The newest version, Photoshop 5.0, for Macintosh and WindowS 95/98/NT, gains several features, the most useful being the ability to go back through every change you have made to an image. Earlier versions offered only a single-step undo command. Photoshop demands a lot of effort on the part of the user who wants to master its vast array of functions, and at $600 ($180 as an upgrade), it's surely not cheap. But it's the ultimate digital darkroom.
