The problem: Designing a hypothetical commercial aircraft involves tradeoffs among six key objectives. The least expensive combination, for example, may not provide the maximum desired flying time. Quantum Leap software automatically juggles variables to arrive at various alternative designs. The program can express the results as a hexagram, or radargraph, showing the degree to which each objective is satisfied, on a percentage scale.
