A video camera attached to your computer makes it possible to hold simple videoconferences and send video E-mail. Now, you can add the feature for under $100. QuickCam VC from Connectix (800 950-5880 or 650 571-5100) is a round camera a bit smaller than a tennis ball. It connects through a printer port or, for $25 more, through the universal serial bus ports that have been included on most new Windows computers for the past year. QuickCam includes software for videoconferencing over the Internet or a dial-up connection. You can also attach video clips to E-mail and capture stills from the camera.
