Funds That Rate an 'A' for Excellence
To help you choose an offshore equity fund, BUSINESS WEEK crunches performance
numbers and assigns one to three upward-pointing arrows to those whose returns
have been better than average and whose volatility has been low over the past
five years. Another way to select funds is to grill their managers and comb
through their portfolios to try to dope out their chances of future success.
While that is nearly impossible for individual investors to do, Standard &
Poor's Fund Research (like BUSINESS WEEK, a unit of The McGraw-Hill Cos.) rates
funds by this method. S&P rates funds AAA, AA, or A for their performance
relative to others in their sector. Here is a list of funds that have earned A,
AA, or AAA ratings from S&P that have also won at least one upward pointing
arrow from BUSINESS WEEK.
