Strategies for Pain-Free Planning-- Start at least 18 months in advance so you can give people plenty of notice. Assume it will take longer than you expect to make plans. -- Take up a collection early for a fund to cover incidental expenses, including mailings, deposits, and supplies. -- Communicate regularly with relatives to update them on plans and get their opinions on key decisions. -- Plan activities for a variety of age groups and interests. This is where you can delegate like mad. -- Before the reunion ends, have the family vote on whether to hold another one. Then, decide when and where, and--most important--who will plan it.
