EASY WRITER

Welcome the first truly practical drive that can read CD-ROMs and both write and erase on them. The new Media Master for Windows 95 from Ricoh (702 352-1600) costs around $600 and handles both standard recordable CD-R disks and the new erasable CD-RW format. With the included Adaptec Direct CD software, you can write files to a CD as though it were a 650-MB floppy disk, and the bundled Seagate Backup Exec allows you to use the Media Master to back up your hard drive. Blank CD-R disks cost about $5 apiece, while the CD-RWs go for about $25. One word of caution: The included SCSI interface card can be difficult to configure.
