CLICK AND COMPARE AT THE WORLD WIDE MALLSHOPPING ONLINE IS STILL a new pastime. But as more companies begin offering goods and services on the Web, can online guides for comparison shoppers be far behind? On May 5,Compare.Net Inc. launches its Web site, www.compare.net, which will offer information in six categories, including electronics, home appliances, and vehicles. Consumers can select the category, product line, price range, and features in order to create their own comparison charts. Compare.net doesn't ''rate'' products and services; it merely lists them and lets consumers make their own judgment calls. That might not be as useful as traditional rating guides, but Compare.net says its database of more than 10,000 products and services will be updated constantly, offering information not readily found in printed guides.
