Handling a Recruiter
Take the call, even if you're not looking for a new position. The contacts you make could lead to a new job in the future.
Reveal little about your employment or salary history until you know more about the recruiter. Make sure it is a reputable firm in order to protect your privacy.
Be honest about your education, job experience, and current salary. Most firms do scrupulous background checks. Exaggerating may derail your job prospects.
Don't cultivate an offer from a search firm just to get your employer to counter-offer. It usually backfires and the recruiters may not want to work with you again.
