Some Webspeak Worth Knowing

BOOKMARK: A link to direct users to a specific place on your Web page.

FTP: File transfer protocol. All you need to know is that you might need this to send your Web pages to a server.

GIF: A common format to encode images for display on Web pages. Another is JPEG.

HTML: This stands for hypertext markup language, which programmers use to create Web pages. Web-authoring software allows you to do the job without knowing HTML.

HYPERLINK OR LINK: A pointer on a page that allows users to click their way to another page or destination.

JAVA: A programming language used to do fancy things on Web pages.

URL: A Web page address; it usually starts with ''http://''
