MAKE WAY FOR THE GIANT MONITORSWHILE THERE HAVE BEEN big improvements in many personal-computer components, one category that lags behind is monitors. Most PC owners still stare into displays that measure just 15 or 17 inches diagonally. But Princeton Graphic Systems Co. will soon have a monitor so large it will make even a PC geek's mouth water. On Mar. 12, the Santa Ana (Calif.) company will enter the home consumer market with its new line of Arcadia monitors. The smallest model measures 27 in. diagonally and weighs more than 80 pounds. The largest Arcadia is 31 in., weighing in at 127 lbs. Not surprisingly, prices for the new displays aren't skimpy, ranging from $800 to $1,200. But Arcadia monitors are not about size alone. Working off the concept that PCs and TVs will ultimately converge, an Arcadia also offers features that help make it the entertainment centerpiece of the family room. Some models, for example, will have connectors in the back for home entertainment gear such as a VCR or a digital satellite service decoder box.
