STILL MORE SOPHISTICATED

Way back before anyone thought of computer screens as ''desktops,'' a program called Sidekick became the first desktop accessory for MS- DOS. The latest edition from Starfish Software (408 561-5800), Sidekick 97 for Windows 95 and NT, still keeps track of addresses, phone numbers, and appointments. But it has grown much more sophisticated while remaining easy to use. The $50 program lets you share contacts and calendars over the Internet or a company network. Users of U.S. Robotics' Palm Pilot will especially like TrueSync, a $30 add-on that provides one-button information transfers between the handheld Pilot and computers running either Win 95 or NT.
