MARTHA STEWART: ON HER OWNIS IT A GOOD THING? AFTER months of negotiations, Martha Stewart has claimed control of her minimedia empire from Time Inc., which began launching her successful Martha Stewart Living magazine and other Martha-themed products in 1991. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Time is retaining a minority interest in the company. ''She wanted more control over the business, the freedom to expand more aggressively,'' says a Time Inc. spokesman. ''We received a fair price for our interest.''
