SEARCH SMIRCH

Several readers noted that the Sept. 30 column on a Web search tool called EchoSearch failed to mention that it works only on Windows 95 or NT. The publisher, Iconovex, says a Mac version should be ready by yearend, and a trial edition will be available sooner at www.iconovex.com. But Windows 3.1 users are probably out of luck. The program is written in Java, and various problems have so far prevented a successful Windows 3.1 implementation of Java.
