WHAT'S ONLINE TONIGHT? LOOK IT UP

WONDER WHAT'S HAPPENING in cyberspace? With millions of Web pages being created every day, it's not an easy thing to describe. Wolff New Media LLP, a New York publisher of books about the Internet, thinks it can help you keep track with what it's calling a TV Guide for the Net.

Your Personal Network (YPN) is a Web site established by Wolff that follows the format of its ``Net Book'' line of titles such as NetDoctor and NetMarketing. The books, as well as the YPN site (http://www.ypn.com), list and rate more than 70,000 Web sites, Internet newsgroups, and other online sources in more than 600 topic areas. More than a search engine, YPN also will have original content--such as articles that tell which sites are best for shopping online. Perhaps the biggest draw for many new online users will be the NetClock, which will display as many as 600 online events every day--Bob Dole in an America Online chat forum at 9 p.m., say. The YPN site will be free to all Web surfers and should be available on Sept. 3.
