YOUR OWN SIMPSONS CARTOON, DUDE!FANS OF THE SIMPSONS CAN NOW UTILIZE A PC TO CREATE their own animated cartoons starring Bart, Homer, and the rest of America's favorite dysfunctional family. All they need is Simpsons Cartoon Studio, a $40 program for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh computers from Fox Interactive, a unit of News Corp. First, you pick one of 35 scenes for your cartoon episode--anything from the Simpsons' living room to the nuclear power plant where Homer works. The program offers 17 animated characters, 250 props, and 20 special effects for you to combine. Using a mouse and some onscreen editing tools, you can direct Bart skateboarding across a stage, for instance, and select songs, sound effects, and snippets of dialogue recorded by the same actors who do the voices for the weekly Fox TV show. You can even save your cartoons to a floppy disk and play them back on other computers. Cowabunga! EDITED BY AMY CORTESE By John W. Verity
