APPLE POLISHING

Macintosh owners waiting for Copland, the long-delayed overhaul of the Mac operating system, may get a small break. Apple Computer Inc. now plans to release one last upgrade to its 5-year-old System 7 late this year. The new version, code-named Harmony, will integrate an assortment of bits and pieces that Apple has released, including improved networking and Internet tools, as well as some Copland features. Copland, the first version of Mac OS designed specifically for the PowerPC chip, isn't slated to ship until late '97.
